The King Home is an independent living
retirement community with
on-site Health Care. We have served the Evanston community since the
1940's and have been part of Presbyterian Homes since 1985. The King
Home is our only (maybe even the only)
retirement community exclusively
for gentlemen.
Located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Evanston; residents
enjoy private one-bedroom suites with full baths. They are 'little but
lovely' apartments. There is, a well-appointed dining room that serves
three home cooked meals a day; comfortable rooms for cards, discussions
and billiards; services include daily housekeeping and linen service;
there are even free haircuts at our very own barbershop! In addition
there is a full program of activities and social events which promote a
strong sense of community among the gentlemen here and are chosen to
reflect the interests of the residents.
Many of our active gentlemen still drive and some are active in the community, working and volunteering at various locations. This opportunity for independent
living or sheltered care is also enhanced by the security of knowing
that medical and nursing assistance along with health care are available
without leaving the building in case of need. Our nursing department can
assist with medications if necessary. And, our security desk follows up
on residents who are not in the Dining Room at mealtimes. Residents are
free to come and go, to spend time in the privacy of their own
apartments or to join in any of the scheduled activities.
